West Dallas

West Dallas consists of many neighborhoods and communities within Dallas, Texas. In the past century, West Dallas was a poor, primarily white, non-incorporated neighborhood populated by people living at the margins of society. With the return of industries, numerous black families came in and were Latinos who established roots still in place even today. The common thread that binds everyone was poverty, but things are changing now.

The commute between downtown and West Dallas is better than in the past five years. The magnificent 400 feet high white arch creates the Margaret Hunt Bill Bridge, a landmark that is the city’s essence.
