The tower is located in the 300-foot area of Reunion Boulevard in downtown Dallas, Texas is an observation area that extends to the 561-foot Reunion Tower. Reunion Tower is part of the Hyatt Regency Hotel complex, the 15th tallest structure in the city. It was a freestanding structure until it was built as the second Hyatt Regency Dallas in 1998.
Reunion Tower also referred to as “The Ball,” was completed in February 1978 with Hyatt Regency Dallas in the Reunion District. In the context of the urban redevelopment plan of the historic Union Station, which serves the Amtrak, Dallas Area Rapid Transit, Trinity Railway Express, and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. The tower comprises three floors with circular floor plans on the top of four concrete shafts. The central shaft, with a cylindrical shape, houses mechanical and stairwells. Three rectangular posts with elevators ascend from the center shaft. Each shaft’s exterior wall comprises glass panels that offer visitors views of the city on the 68-second elevator ride up to the top. The celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck opened the fine-dining restaurant revolving, Five Sixty, on the tower’s top floor, which rotates on February 11, 2009. The name refers to its elevation.
